Who am I?

Amarillis flower with white petals stripped in pink
Hola! I'm Amarilys Acosta, a passionate and creative Latina with an obsession for stories. I'm also a professional reader, writer, and editor of fiction.

My daily adventures include getting lost (on purpose) in the pages of books, building worlds from scratch and helping others do the same, and planning my next big vacation adventure. Learning is a big part of who I am, so following research threads to fascinating topics, developing new creative skills, and picking up new hobbies and classes every few months is a common thing.

My passion for writing and editing stems from my love of wonderfully crafted fiction stories that immediately transport me to new worlds while making a point to teach me things about real life. I like sneaky lessons. But what thrills me the most is helping others tell their own stories.
I believe that love has no boundaries, that representation matters, and that spaceships are very cool. One of my main goals is to help LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC voices become mainstream and bring diversity into the publishing world.

Short Bio

Amarilys Acosta of Amarilys Fiction Editing is a professional reader, writer, and editor of fiction. In the pursuit of craft knowledge, she completed a Writing Popular Fiction MFA with a focus on YA Lit, and later became a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association, volunteering with their Diversity Initiative. She has worked on bestselling titles for Penguin Random House Audio and Macmillan Children's Publishing Group. Amarilys joined Entangled Publishing in early 2020, and works with authors to create and polish the best version of their books. One of her main goals is to help LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC voices become mainstream and bring diversity into the publishing world. Amarilys lives in Puerto Rico with three very bossy rescue cats, and she ardently believes that love has no boundaries, that representation matters, and that spaceships are very cool.
